Entrance Tests and Applications

Applications are now closed for entry into the school in Year 10 and Year 11 in 2014.

Regarding your Year 10 test this Saturday - Edutest will email you directly. If you haven't recevied an email from Edutest by Wednesday 19 June, please contact Edutest directly on registration@edutest.com.au.

Please be ready for the test at 8.30am at Saturday.

Enrolment policy and procedures

The School Council has endorsed the policy and procedures document which outlines entry requirements and procedures for 2014. Applicants are advised to read the document carefully. The policy and procedures for 2015 have not yet been endorsed.

Students applying for Year 10 in 2014

These students will be referred to as "new Year 10s". Please fully read the application guidelines before applying.

Applications are now closed. In 2013 the test will be run by Edutest. Students must complete Year 9 before commencing Year 10 with JMSS.

Special Consideration, Illness and Misadventure

If your student's performance in the examination has been adversely affected, please download and complete the appropriate form, and return to  john.monash.ss@edumail.vic.gov.au

Special consideration form if the student’s performance on the entrance examination may have been affected by illness, injury or personal trauma.

Illness or Misadventure form if some problem, such as sickness or accident, prevents your child from taking the John Monash Science School examination.

Statement on entry tests

We have received a number of enquiries about the format and content of the tests which will be administered by Edutest to determine entry to the school. Please note that to ensure the integrity of the testing process, and equity for all applicants, no further information about the tests will be provided prior to the administration of the tests.

John Monash Science School is a specialist school which focuses on science, mathematics and associated technologies. The students who will benefit most from attending the school will be proficient in mathematics, be able to express themselves clearly in English, to apply scientific reasoning to problems and to think logically and coherently.

School Tours

School tours for prospective students and parents will be held at 3.30pm on:

• May 14th (fully booked);
• May 16th (fully booked);
• May 21st (fully booked); and
• May 23rd (fully booked).

Please be ready 10 minutes early for a prompt start, and allow plenty of time. Please note: there is no parking available directly outside JMSS so you will need to park in the ticketed parking spaces on Monash University campus. Visit the Contact page for more information and a map.
